A file is in the right folder. Even so, a fair amount is still missing in day-to-day work: who is allowed to see it? Where is the version from before the last change? Which appointment belongs to it, and where are the customer’s contact details? It is at these transitions that storage becomes an office. BusinessCloud builds on Nextcloud for this and connects its tools to the KENJTEC account.
Nextcloud is the technical foundation; BusinessCloud is the specific service as it has been set up. This distinction matters: a feature in the general Nextcloud documentation is not automatically enabled for KENJTEC customers. What is interesting is the connection between files, versions, sharing and office work that can actually be used.
File versions make changes traceable
In its version control manual, Nextcloud describes how earlier versions of a file become accessible via the file details. In BusinessCloud, too, you can restore an earlier version or files deleted by mistake. That helps when a revised materials list has lost an important entry.
The practical step is straightforward: for one of your own files, open the available versions, identify the state you want and check its content before using it further. A file name like “final-new-really-final” then no longer has to carry the history on its own. Versions are, however, no substitute for a promised backup that is kept indefinitely. A fixed retention period is deliberately not promised here.
Sharing is a deliberate action
A folder is first of all a place to work. A share link gives it an additional role as a hand-over. The Nextcloud principle of sharing appears in BusinessCloud in a specific form: you share files or folders yourself by link in the Files view, including with people who have no KENJTEC account.
For a small design project, you could collect confirmed documents in a hand-over folder and send exactly that link to the client. Direct sharing with accounts is limited to your own company; for anyone outside it, the link remains the way. So choose the content for the intended recipient instead of sharing an entire working folder with internal drafts.
Calendar and contacts complement the file
The Calendar app and the address book are part of the Nextcloud toolkit. In BusinessCloud, you plan appointments and maintain contacts in the same office. A submission deadline can then sit next to the document instead of only being mentioned in a private chat.
KENJTEC also connects this area with Invoice: for issued invoices, a PDF copy is stored in your own file area; payment due dates can appear in the calendar together with the document. If a calendar entry fails, the invoice nevertheless remains valid. This is one specific connection, not a guarantee that every conceivable appointment will be detected automatically from every file.
Nextcloud and Collabora have different roles
Under “New”, you create documents, spreadsheets and presentations in BusinessCloud and edit them in the browser. The advantage lies in a place of work that you can reach: for a small calculation, you do not first have to install an office suite of your own. In our example, quantity, unit price and formula are in the spreadsheet, while the source documents sit alongside it as files.
Behind this, Collabora Online works as a separate office service. Nextcloud provides the file context and access; the office integration connects the editor to this storage via WOPI. Collabora describes the roles as the WOPI host for the file application and the WOPI client for the editor. The official integration outline shows this separate data path. So a visible editor on its own is not yet the file management. In KENJTEC’s configuration, the office bridge is tied to the Collabora service that is actually configured.
Plan in a sensible check: change an input, trace the affected formula and look at the display in the intended browser. This does not imply guaranteed compatibility with all third-party file formats. Simultaneous collaborative office editing is likewise not promised for this BusinessCloud.
The implementation counts, not the entire upstream list
You sign in with your KENJTEC account; BusinessCloud is part of the subscription plans. Calendar, files and Office are therefore set up to work together. Customers do not freely install any Nextcloud apps they like here. A mailbox, team chat or meeting service is not part of this cloud offering. End-to-end encryption is not claimed for the files described.
A good way to start is therefore a small assignment of your own: create a document, add an appointment for it, trace a version and hand over the appropriate file by link. These steps show what difference a connected place of work makes. They are a suggestion to try out, not a hands-on test carried out here. The KENJTEC documentation describes the actual interface and its requirements.
Sources and code checked as of 25 October 2026. The general Nextcloud mechanisms and the KENJTEC implementation were checked separately against the original documentation, the feature list and the configuration.
